Applying for a new Voter Card, also known as EPIC, is now an easy online process. The Election Commission of India allows new voters to apply digitally using Form 6. This form is mainly used to add a new name to the electoral roll and is very important during the ongoing Special Intensive Revision process.

Eligibility for New Voter Card Application
Before applying, make sure you meet all the basic conditions.
- You must be a citizen of India
- You must live in the constituency where you are applying
- You must be 18 years or older on the qualifying date, usually January 1
- Your name must not be listed in any other voter list
If all these conditions are met, you can proceed with Form 6.
Documents Required for Form 6
Keep clear digital copies of the following documents ready.
- Proof of Date of Birth: Birth certificate, Aadhaar card, passport, or Class 10 or 12 mark sheet
- Proof of Address: Aadhaar card, electricity or water bill, bank or post office passbook, or registered rent agreement
- Photograph: Recent passport-size color photo with a clear front view

How to Apply Online Through the Voter Services Portal
Step 1: Registration and Login
Visit the official Voter Services Portal at voters.eci.gov.in. Sign up using your mobile number and email, complete the verification, and log in.
Step 2: Start Form 6
From the dashboard, select “Form 6 – Application for Inclusion of Name.” Choose “Yes” if you are applying as a new voter, then select your state and district.
Step 3: Fill Personal Details
Enter your name, date of birth, mobile number, and Aadhaar number if available. Add the EPIC details of a family member already registered in the same area. This helps in record linking.
Step 4: Upload Documents
Upload proof of date of birth, proof of address, and your photograph.
Step 5: Declaration and Submission
Fill in the place and date, confirm that all details are correct, and submit the form.
After Submission and Status Tracking
After submission, you will receive a 10-digit application reference number. Use this number to track your application status on the portal.
Your application will go through BLO verification, address checking, and final approval. Once approved, your EPIC number will be generated, and you can download your digital voter card.
