Income Tax Pune Sports Quota Recruitment 2026: Eligibility Criteria

The candidate must be an Indian citizen. The notification allows upper-age relaxation of up to 5 years for meritorious sportspersons, and up to 10 years for SC/ST candidates, subject to fulfilment of the other eligibility requirements and submission of the prescribed certificate.
Income Tax Pune Sports Quota Recruitment 2026: Sports Eligibility
Candidates must meet the prescribed sports achievement/participation criteria for recruitment under the sports quota.
- First preference: Candidates who represented India in an international competition with the clearance of the Department of Sports, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.
- Second preference: Candidates who represented a State/UT in recognized Senior or Junior National Championships or National Games and secured a medal or position up to third place.
- Third preference: Candidates who represented a University in recognized Inter-University competitions or Khelo India University Games and secured a medal or position up to third place.
- Fourth preference: Candidates who represented a State/UT in Khelo India Youth Games, Khelo India Winter Games or Khelo India Para Games and secured a medal or position up to third place.
- Fifth preference: Candidates who represented State Schools in National Sports/Games for Schools and secured a medal or position up to third place.
- Sixth preference: Candidates who represented State/UT, University or State Schools teams at the specified levels but did not win a medal or position.
Sports achievements obtained after 10 August 2026, the date of the notification, will not be considered for this recruitment.
Income Tax Pune Sports Quota Recruitment 2026: Selection Procedure
The selection will be carried out according to the prescribed order of preference for meritorious sportspersons.
- Candidates will be considered according to the sports achievement/participation preference specified in the notification.
- In case of a tie, a candidate securing a higher position or winning more than one medal may be given preference.
- Individual and team events may receive the same preference.
- No additional preference is given merely for winning more than one medal/position.
- Stenographer Grade-II: Selected candidates have to qualify the skill test. The dictation test is for 10 minutes at 80 words per minute, followed by computer transcription at 50 wpm in English and 65 wpm in Hindi.
- Tax Assistant: Selected candidates have to qualify the Data Entry Skill Test at 8,000 key depressions per hour.
- Original certificates will have to be produced when called for.
- Medical fitness will be assessed before formal appointment.
- Appointment is also subject to police verification and other prescribed conditions.
