Apply Online for India Post GDS Recruitment 2026: Department of Posts has issued the India Post Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS) Recruitment 2026 notification for 23,757 tentative positions. Recruitment is being done under GDS Online Engagement Schedule-II, July-2026 cycle for the jobs of Branch Postmaster (BPM) Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM) and Dak Sevak.
Eligible individuals can apply online at the official India Post GDS Online Engagement Portal. The One-Time Registration (OTR) process will start from August 31, 2026 and online applications will be accepted from Sept 2 to September 21, 2026 up to 5 PM.

The vacancies are distributed across various postal circles and divisions in India. The application process is completely online and consists of two primary stages: One-Time Registration followed by submission of the Online Application Form.
Who Can Apply for India Post GDS?
Candidates applying for GDS posts must have passed the Class 10/Secondary School Examination from a recognised board, with passing marks in Mathematics and English. Applicants must also have studied the prescribed local language of the concerned Circle at least up to Class 10.
The prescribed age limit is 18 to 40 years, with relaxation applicable to eligible reserved categories. Candidates are also required to have knowledge of computers and cycling, along with adequate means of livelihood as specified in the notification.
How to Apply Online for India Post GDS Recruitment 2026
Candidates can follow these steps to complete their GDS application:
- Visit the official GDS Online Engagement Portal.
- Complete One-Time Registration (OTR) using a valid mobile number and email ID. Both are verified through OTP.
- Enter personal information and Class 10 board and year-of-passing details to generate a unique Registration Number.
- Log in with the Registration Number and password received through SMS.
- Select “Apply Online” under the Active Notification section.
- Enter personal and educational details, including Circle, board, year of passing and marks.
- Select the preferred Division and post based on the available eligible vacancies.
- Upload a recent photograph and signature according to the prescribed specifications.
- Preview the completed application carefully and correct any errors before submission.
- Pay the applicable application fee through the available online payment options, if required.
- Submit the application before the deadline and retain the submitted details for future reference.

India Post GDS Application Fee
Candidates applying for the notified posts are required to pay a ₹100 application fee, subject to the exemptions mentioned in the notification. Payment can be made through credit/debit card, net banking or UPI. The fee is non-refundable.
Fee exemption is available for:
- All female applicants
- SC/ST applicants
- PwBD applicants
- Transwomen applicants
Important Points Before Submitting the Form
Candidates should submit only one registration and avoid duplicate applications. The name, date of birth, father’s name and mother’s name should be entered exactly as recorded on the Class 10 certificate. The registered mobile number and email ID cannot subsequently be modified.
Applicants are required to upload only their photograph and signature during the application process; original documents will be verified physically at a later stage. Candidates should also carefully enter their Class 10 marks because the GDS merit list is generated using the academic record, and incorrect information can lead to cancellation.
